If Cal Thomas’ “Democracy lives in brightness” commentary was intended to highlight how the GOP and Trump policies shine a bright, clarifying light on how they will govern, as opposed to the Democrats’ vague and one-dimensional platform, it was yet another example of misleading posturing posing as factual information.
There is no doubt that the GOP/Trump messaging was on the mark. That does not make it true.
The language in the Florida Amendment to Limit Government Interference with Abortion does not mention limits on Parents at all. Read it.
Trump’s humility is questionable given his attribution of divine intervention for his electoral victory. Look it up.
As to specifics on policy: “Horrible/Obnoxious Tariffs on imports — 20 percent, 60-100 percent,” “Lower Gas/Grocery prices, on Day 1” or “launch largest deportation program in American History” are all headline-grabbing statements with no plan of implementation.
Finally, the “conscientiousness and bitterness of the last four years,” the drumbeat of cheating in the 2020 election highlighted by the riotous trashing of the nation’s Capitol while the incumbent watched continues as a hallmark of GOP/Trump grievances.
Yes, the Democratic party failed to connect with the majority of Americans this election, but let’s not continue to wink at GOP/Trump shortcomings and promote half-truths that do nothing but cloud American democracy.
