One of the many so-called informed columnists wrote a 925-, plus or minus, word article that was published in our local paper.
There are folks who are careless with firearms and the results can be life tragedies.
I would never object to reliable background checks to keep weapons from those who have criminal histories or are mentally unfit, when it is documented, both of which are not flawless.
There is just no excuse for stupidity or lack of knowledge.
Let’s face it: We issue driver’s licenses to some who prove they should never drive on the road with their fellow men/women.
We see them every day.
The writer missed, as have our elected officials, what type weapons are being used in our big cities.
We have weekend and nightly mass shootings, many that resulted in fatalities, in Chicago and New York, that are not examples of the use of high-powered rifles.
Where are the handguns coming from?
Not gun shows, or gun stores, legally anyway.
I would challenge any reader to attend a Washington Arm Collectors show without ID, and a background verification to go out the door with a gun.
Washington and most states follow the laws restricting these sales, without exception.
Most of these laws originated under the 1968 Gun Control Federal Act.
So why aren’t the writers saying that?
They either don’t understand or they try not to direct your and my attention to where the fault lies.
