LETTER: Facts about proposed clinic should allay fears

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe has a history of contributing to the health of Sequim. They stepped in and opened the Jamestown Family Health Clinic when Virginia Mason abandoned its clinic here. The proposed Healing Campus is another welcome contribution.

For those who are concerned about the location, here are some facts that might allay your fears.

The Healing Campus is a collaboration between the tribe, Olympic Medical Center and Peninsula Behavioral Health, without a tax levy.

They propose using best medical practices for treating people who are struggling with opioid addiction.

The medication-assisted treatment clinic would augment Jamestown Family Health Clinic services with more intensive addiction treatment care, such as daily monitoring, medications and wrap-around services.

It would be regulated by rigorous state and federal standards.

It also will monitor all clients’ transportation to and from the campus.
