LETTER: Don’t vote for me

Primary election ballots are out as of July 17.

It’s easy to look down the list, see a familiar name, and fill in the box.

But if that’s how you vote, you’ll miss some better picks.

Take the governor’s race, for example.

Incumbent Inslee and initiative pro Eyman are always in the news, but far better choices abound, most notably Joshua Freed and Loren Culp.

After visiting the candidates’ websites, I’m leaning toward Freed.

Other races offer choices between familiar pro-tax-and-regulate incumbents and lesser-known highly qualified challengers, who are better attuned to understand and represent our interests.

Consider Dr. Elizabeth Kreiselmaier for Congress; Connie Beauvais for District 24 State Senate; Brian Pruiett for District 24 Representative, Position 2.

And if you happen to live in the Robin Hill Precinct, for the first time ever, you have a choice between two candidates for Republican Precinct Committee Officer.

Please choose the less familiar name.

I didn’t realize Vass Shantalov had filed until it was too late for me to withdraw.

Vass will bring fresh energy to the position I’ve held for decades.

Don’t waste your primary ballot.

Take advantage of this opportunity to vote for better choices.
