LETTER: Deciding to bag local shopping and go online

Having done a little research on shopping bags, I have found that plastic, paper and cotton bags all have an adverse effect on the environment.

All come with a cost and none are benign.

So I have decided to forgo the shopping bag completely and have my purchases delivered to my door, saving the hassle of having to constantly go to stores.

I find that there is a better variety of food and other products online and a lot of them are cheaper than you can find locally.

A lot of things can be delivered in only a day or two where I live but in some areas, you can get same-day delivery.

I think it will save time, money and gas and it will be healthier than having to be around shoppers who are sick and spreading their germs everywhere.

This is the future folks and I thank those like the Port Angeles City Council and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos for encouraging us to embrace this better way of shopping.

Gary Johnson,
