LETTER: Crime rates, racism arguments red herrings

Much continues to be said about the difference in crime rates between illegal immigrants and native born citizens as it relates to the border wall debate.

That argument is a red herring.

The effectiveness of the border wall is the issue, not quibbling over a crime rate statistic.

Someone entering our country, without our permission, is a criminal.

That’s what the law says and we are a country of laws.

Someone entering my house without my permission is not welcome.

Thousands of individuals are entering our country illegally and that’s established fact.

A border wall is a necessary piece of the national security puzzle as evidenced by walls in other countries and common sense.

Its cost is a pittance compared to what we spend on supporting the needs of illegals, and whether or not a wall is racist is just another red herring thrown out by the open borders adherents.
