LETTER: Contact Congress

The Trump administration has dismayed our global allies by withdrawing from the international nuclear agreement with Iran, undermined diplomatic efforts, and escalated economic and military pressure on Iran.

The Trump administration’s assassination of the Iranian military commander of Iran’s Quds Force dangerously escalates the conflict with Iran.

Iran is well-armed and ready to fight, can shut down oil transportation in the Strait of Hormuz, target oil pipelines, sink battleships that homeport in Puget Sound and target Israel.

If our military uses tactical nuclear weapons, a world-wide nuclear war could ignite.

There are many nuclear war targets in Washington state.

Think people.

If a nuclear war happens on earth there are no refugee camps available for us on a nearby earth-like planet.

We American citizens have a duty to tell our elected representatives and senators to stop this war.

Perhaps Congress can return our nation to the path of diplomacy and international engagement.

Congress has a constitutional duty to debate and decide whether or not to declare war, and can turn off the money to a war.

At the very least the Trump administration must thoroughly brief Congress, clearly define what success looks like, what the broader strategy is and how a war would be limited.

The best strategy starts with each one of us: call your senators and representative and be clear, no war with Iran.

No first use of nuclear weapons.
