LETTER: Candidate Henninger actions raise concerns

Recently, I was the target of Anne Marie Henninger’s lawsuit where she alleged I had harassed and stalked her.

The underlying incident was a courteous phone call I made to attempt to clarify some address discrepancies in her public record, and to advise her there would be a Superior Court challenge to her candidacy for hospital commissioner if those address discrepancies could not be clarified.

Immediately after that conversation, Henninger filed a complaint with the Sequim Police Department.

After an investigation, the police concluded I had committed no crime.

Unfazed, Henninger charged on to sue me anyway, seeking a protection order requiring that I never contact her again and that I undergo a mental health evaluation.

She was immediately denied that protection order, but she was allowed a follow-up court hearing.

At that hearing, Henninger testified on how terrified she was by my call and how she thought her family’s safety was at risk.

The judge found Henninger’s response to my phone call not reasonable, concluded that my actions were well within the parameters of constitutionally protected political activity, and completely exonerated my conduct.

So here is the question for Clallam voters: Do you want our local hospital’s governance in the hands of someone who will bring a vindictive lawsuit to prevent you from contacting them and to require you to undergo a mental health evaluation, merely for questioning them?

Think twice, you could be her next target.

Don’t vote for Ann Marie Henninger.
