Talk to lawyers
During President Donald Trump’s government shutdown, our U.S. Coast Guard personnel served without pay.
Yet, like many other federal workers, many were legally forced to remain on the job.
The 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states, “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude … shall exist within the United States….”
Doesn’t being forced to work without pay constitute involuntary servitude?
Is this not a violation of the U.S. Constitution?
These workers should be talking to lawyers not only about expediting their paychecks but also about demanding that the Trump administration pay monetary damages for blatantly violating their constitutional rights.
