LETTER: ADUs not the answer

The Clallam County commission is moving toward expanding accessory dwelling unit building in an effort to address homelessness.

It will let people with larger lots more easily meet building requirements but does little to address homelessness.

How many homeowners will spend their money and cramp their lot to allow a street person to move in beside them?

Larger lots tend to be farther from services, so how would transportation be provided?

Homelessness will continue to grow until jobs at a living wage are available to those willing to work.

Please find another justification for easing the regulations.

Since Citizens United was passed in the 1970s, the rich and corporations have flooded the election process with money to buy friendly congressmen.

Decent jobs have been outsourced or replaced by automation.

Less skilled and less affluent workers are faced with service jobs that offer a bare subsistence wage and no future.

Until this changes, homelessness will continue to grow.
