Hannah: Supports the capital levy for the Port Angeles School District

Vote yes on levy

Stevens Middle School needs to be expanded and the existing buildings replaced. It’s 60 years old.

How many of you remember your 1960 car?

Do you think you would still be driving it today?

Those of us who followed our expenses saw the maintenance costs increasing every year until it made sense to sell it and buy something newer — better fuel economy, safer, more comfortable, less expensive maintenance.

Replacing Stevens Middle School and expanding it needs to be done.

The kids need a better learning environment — quieter, not so crowded and having modern technology.

Safety and security are very important also.

People are talking about a 9.3 level earthquake being a possibility in our area.

The new building would not collapse.

We have had 3 level earthquakes here, what if we have a 6 level?

Will the existing buildings stand or will the roofs collapse?

Scary thoughts.

Yes, replacing schools costs money — our taxes.

But should we just kick the can down the road and let our kids or grandkids pay for it?

Who paid for the schools you attended?

Vote yes for the levy for our kids and the community.
