Troxler to discuss art inspirations at Studium Generale

PORT ANGELES — Molly Troxler will talk about her art at 12:35 p.m. Thursday.

Troxler’s talk will be part of the Studium Generale lecture series in the Little Theater at Peninsula College’s Port Angeles Campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Troxler, a member of the Jamestown S’Klallam, Skokomish and Squaxin Island tribes, will discuss her inspirations, artistic style and connections to family.

Troxler has an exhibit on display at the ʔaʔkʷustəŋáw̕txʷ House of Learning, Peninsula College Longhouse, which will host a reception for Troxler following her presentation.

The exhibit is open from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays at the Longhouse Art Gallery until Dec. 18.

Future presentations in the lecture series include:

• The roundtable discussion “Honoring Veterans” on Nov. 13.

• Alice Derry presenting “Native Plants of the Peninsula” on Nov. 20.

• The student-led discussion “What We Have Learned this Quarter” will finish the series on Dec. 4.

Studium also will host a special presentation of “My Heart is Good” with Port Gamble S’Klallam elder and former tribal chair Ron Charles and anthropologist Josh Wisniewski on Nov. 12.
