An Olympic Discovery Trail fundraiser and a children’s safety fair are among upcoming activities on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Trail fundraiser

PORT TOWNSEND — The annual Olympic Discovery Trail fundraiser will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Freddy Pink 10-piece rock and soul band will perform at the event at the McCurdy Pavilion in Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way.

The cost is $20, with a dinner served by Farm Fresh $15. Tickets are available online at www.brownpapertickets.com.

More than 150 items will be featured during the silent auction.

Food, beer, wine, cider and soft drinks will be available.

Proceeds will benefit the Peninsula Trails Coalition to support the development of the Olympic Discovery Trail.

Puppet show

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Library invites the public to a Pappenspiel at 6:30 p.m. today.

Eberhard “Max” Eichner will stage his all-ages play at the library, 1256 Lawrence St.

Pappenspiel is a bicycle-traveling, trunk-size, tabletop stage derived from a type of 1850s central European puppetry and storytelling form using paper figures as illustrations, according to a news release.

Eichner is an artist who was born in Berlin.

Book sale

PORT TOWNSEND — The Friends of the Port Townsend Library will host a book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Friends members can enter the sale at the Port Townsend Community Center, 620 Tyler St., an hour early, at 8 a.m.

Adult books are $1 and children’s books are 50 cents.

Books are divided by fiction and nonfiction, with the nonfiction sorted into categories.

Beginning at 1 p.m., a bag of books will cost $4, or $3 for Friends members.

Proceeds from the sale benefit adult and children’s programs at the library.

Second Sunday swim

PORT TOWNSEND — The public is invited to Mountain View Pool’s free swim Sunday.

The pool will be open to adults for laps, water walking and exercise from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the pool, 1925 Blaine St.

From 2:15 p.m. to 5 p.m., the pool will be open to all ages for recreation.

An adult must accompany children younger than 8 in the water.

PORT TOWNSEND — Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s October Meaningful Movies will present a screening of “The Best Democracy Money Can Buy” at 7 p.m. Monday.

According to a news release: “Investigative reporter Greg Palast takes a hard-hitting, noir detective-style look at voter suppression, election rigging and the role of big money in the 2016 presidential election.”

4-H Club meeting

PORT TOWNSEND — The Paws-N-Claws 4-H Club of Jefferson County will hold its first meeting for its new year at 6 p.m. Thursday.

An overview of the 4-H Program, its Cat Project and the club’s activities will be addressed.

Conflict workshop

This event is free and open to the public; a dinner can be purchased for $22 per person.

Cronkhite didn’t see the ocean until she was 21, didn’t sail until she was 31, but by age 40, she had sailed around the world and her book, “PAX,” is the story of 10 families she met during her travels, according to a news release.

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Farmers Market will be held at the Vern Burton Community Center on Saturday.
