PORT ANGELES — Veteran Master Gardeners Bob Cain, Laurel Moulton, Jeanette Stehr-Green, Audreen Williams and Jan Bartron will host the Second Saturday Garden Walk.
The walk will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Fifth Street Community Garden, 328 E. Fifth St. The monthly walks are free and open to the public.
Topics for May will include but are not limited to dealing with spring pests — such as variegated cutworm and pea leaf weevil — refraining from planting tomatoes too early and seeing the current straw bale gardening demonstration.
Garden Walks take place rain or shine and will continue every second Saturday of the month through September 14.
The garden includes more than 50 9-foot-by- 12-foot rental plots. The garden was developed on city property in 2011 with a vision to connect people to the earth and their community through growing food.
Master Gardeners are also available for one-on-one vegetable garden advice at the garden on Mondays now through mid-October from 10 a.m. to noon.
