Schmidt, Friedman at Northwind Arts Center tonight

PORT TOWNSEND — Northwind Arts Center will join Matt Miner Presents in welcoming Claudia Schmidt and special guest Judith-Kate Friedman at 7 p.m. tonight for spirited song and stories.

Advance tickets for the performance at the center at 701 Water St. are $15 each at Northwind Arts Center or from https://claudianorthwind.brownpapertickets.com/, or $18 at the door.

Schmidt has been perfecting her craft of performing for almost four decades, according to a news release.

“It is a quirky and wonderful hodge-podge of music, poetry, story, laughter, drama, and celebrating the moment,” the release said.

“Work in clubs, theaters, festivals, TV, radio has added depth and dimension, and since she has always included her original work along with very personal versions of the work of others, what you get is a unique look at the world from someone who says what she sees with clarity, humor, and wonder.”

Opening the show for Claudia is Port Townsend’s own big talent, Friedman.

Friedman is a performing songwriter and folk-roots artist whose award-winning work celebrates liberation and transformation.

“With voice, guitar, piano and percussion, she invites courage and tenderness, connecting us more deeply with each other and ourselves,” the release said.

Northwind Arts Center welcomes Matt Miner Presents as a new partner in presenting live acoustic music in Port Townsend.

MMP has been producing intimate concerts in the Portland, Ore., area for 12 years, specializing in presenting touring artists from across the country and around the world.
