Reception to be held for Port Ludlow artist of month

PORT LUDLOW — The Port Ludlow Art League will host a reception for Sheryl Goldsberry from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The reception will begin in the lobby of Sound Community Bank, 9500 Oak Bay Road, then move to the league’s adjacent gallery at 5 p.m.

Goldsberry, a painter who works in mixed media, is the gallery’s featured artist for June. Her exhibit shows a progression of diverse techniques and media that illustrate her curiosity and passion.

Goldsberry will share gallery space with Nancy Aikman, the league’s featured jeweler.

Aikman’s jewelry often features carbochons, natural gemstones that have been shaped and polished instead of faceted.

She uses them along with other natural materials, such as beads, antlers and beach finds, in her pine needle baskets.

Aikman also creates earrings, bracelets and necklaces using glass, natural stones and sterling silver.

Goldsberry’s painting and Aikman’s jewelry will be on display in the gallery from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays throughout June.
