RainShadow Chorale to sing Broadway tunes

PORT HADLOCK — RainShadow Chorale on Broadway is planned at 4 p.m. next Saturday, Sunday and May 11 at the Old Alcohol Plant.

Admission to performances at 310 Hadlock Bay Road will be suggested donations of $20 for adults and $10 for students.

Tickets can be purchased at Crossroads Music at 2100 Lawrence St. in Port Townsend, from chorale members or at the door.

However, advance purchase is advised – last year’s shows all sold out, organizers said.

Last year’s performance was RainShadow Chorale At the Movies.

This yea’s spring program, conducted by Artistic Director Rebecca Rottsolk, will present variety of tunes from both well-known and more obscure Broadway shows. Among them are West Side Story, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Les Miserables, Cabaret, South Pacific and Man of La Mancha.

RainShadow Chorale will be accompanied on the piano by Linda Dowdell, an award-winning composer and arranger who has extensive experience in musical theater, dance productions, and classical performances.

“We are so fortunate to have her with us for this production,” Rottsolk said. “Besides being a fabulous pianist, her suggestions for song choices and interpretation, and even arranging a number of pieces herself especially for RainShadow, have been invaluable to me and the singers.”

Songs will be performed by the full chorale as well as small ensembles and soloists, and will showcase the broad range of talent for which RainShadow has become known.

All of the Old Alcohol Plant’s profits support Bayside Housing.

Dinner reservations can be made at Spirits Bar & Grill, 360-390-4017.

The show will be over at about 5:30 p.m.
