Port Ludlow Art League to host reception for artists of month

PORT LUDLOW — The Port Ludlow Art League will host a reception for Artist of the Month Mary Rodgers and Jeweler of the Month Janice Gruber from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The reception will begin at 4 p.m. in the lobby at Sound Community Bank, 9500 Oak Bay Road, then move to the league’s adjacent gallery at 5 p.m.

Rodgers began her artistic endeavors by watching online tutorials on watercolor painting. She has expanded her repertoire to include acrylics, and she enjoys experimenting with color, technique and subject.

Her exhibit, “Mary’s Funky Flora and Fauna,” features playful colors and textures in an abstract style.

Gruber, while known for her oil paintings, also creates jewelry. Her latest collection features an array of hand-blown glass beads, pendants and precious stones such as variscite, pendritic opal, brecciated mookaite and black obsidian crystals.

Rodgers’ paintings and Gruber’s jewelry will be on display in the gallery from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays throughout March.

For more information, email info@portludlowart.org or visit www.port ludlowart.org.
