Port Angeles Community Players to host auditions

PORT ANGELES — Auditions for the Port Angeles Community Players’ production of “Enchanted April” will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 and 3 p.m. Dec. 14.

The auditions will be on the main stage at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Rehearsals are planned for three to four times per week beginning Dec. 30. Performances are scheduled from Feb. 21 through March 9.

The director is looking to cast three men from their mid-20s to 50-plus and five women from their mid-20s to 60-plus.

Actors only need to attend one audition session.

The play, directed by Janice Parks, is based on the 1922 novel by Elizabeth von Arnim.

The play focuses on two London housewives who feel lost in the shadows of marriage and forgotten in the rush of 1920s post-war society.

The pair pool their savings to rent a villa in Italy for a ladies-only holiday. They reluctantly recruit a pair of difficult upper-class women to share the cost and the experience.

The four women clash and then begin to bond and bloom until men once again upset the balance.

Parks requests that potential cast members avoid watching the movie version of “Enchanted April.” Instead, she wants them to look at the script from a fresh perspective.

Perusal copies of the script are available at the temporary location of the Sequim Branch Library, 609 W. Washington St., and at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
