Peninsula College Jazz Ensemble to perform free concerts

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College Jazz Ensemble will perform two free concerts next week.

A midday concert is set for noon Tuesday in the Pirate Union Building at the college’s Port Angeles campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Attendees can purchase food at the PUB Market and Deli or bring their own.

The ensemble also will perform its Summer Jazz Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at Maier Performance Hall at the Port Angeles campus.

The concerts are directed by Marge Rosen and feature vocals by Robin Eaves of Joyce.

The program includes classic and modern jazz from such composers as George Gershwin, Count Basie, Thad Jones, John Coltrane, Henry Mancini, Chuck Mangione and Seattle-based composer Daniel Barry.

Members of the band include trumpet players Jim Bradbury, Larry Madsen and Nancy McPherson; conductor Marge Rosen on drums; pianist John Wetherill; Jamie Porter on acoustic bass; Vern Sielert on electric bass; Keith Boll and Jeff Fox on saxophone; Jeff Dingle, Cliff Brown and Tom Hartig on trombone; and John Adams on alto sax and bass clarinet.
