Operation Candy Cane begins Saturday

PORT ANGELES — Operation Candy Cane 2023 begins Saturday and will continue through Dec. 14.

Port Angeles Professional Firefighters Local 656 Volunteer firefighters, along with Santa Claus, will travel the streets of the city on a decorated 1956 Seagrave fire engine beginning at 5:30 p.m. each evening.

Firefighters will hand out candy canes to those who come out to meet them, while collecting cans of food or money for the local food banks.

Here is the schedule.

• Saturday — West of I and M streets.

• Sunday — I and L streets to C streets.

• Monday — C Street to Lincoln Street.

• Tuesday — Chase Street to Chambers Street.

• Wednesday — Jones Street to Golf Course Road.

• Thursday — Above Lauridsen Boulevard.

Clallam County Fire District 3 firefighters and volunteers finished their Santa’s Toy and Food Fire Brigade on Thursday.

They collected donations for Sequim Community Aid’s Toys for Sequim Kids and monetary donations for Sequim Food Bank.

Toys for Sequim Kids will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road.
