Music, art offered in Friday entertainment

It’s going to be a big weekend for art shows and live music on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Here’s a sampling of things to see and hear this Friday — and be sure to also check Friday’s Peninsula Daily News for more arts and entertainment happening throughout this first weekend of April.

• The High Council and Goodtime Hustle, a pair of bands blending reggae, rock, psychedelia and alt-country, arrive at Anchor, 628 Water St., Port Townsend, for a kind of double feature of live music.

It all starts at 8 p.m. Friday with no cover charge. Information can be found at https://fb.me/e/1J3zCYVRI.

• Alex Sturbaum, a singer-songwriter, dance musician and multi-instrumentalist, will start the weekend with a set at Finnriver Farm & Cidery, 124 Center Road, Chimacum, this Friday.

He’ll dish up a variety of folk music from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. with a $5 cover charge.

• Ches and friends will host an evening of live music at the New Moon Craft Tavern, 130 S. Lincoln St., this Friday. Ches’ variety of rock, blues and jam-style songs will flow from 8 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.

• “Earth, Water, Sky,” an exhibition of paintings by Hart James and photographs by Paul Shapiro, opens Friday at Northwind Art’s Jeanette Best Gallery, 701 Water St., Port Townsend.

A meet-and-greet with the artists is set for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and an artist talk will go online at 7 p.m. next Wednesday.

Viewing is free, but registration is required at North windart.org under Exhibits. Northwind’s gallery is open noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays.
