Musers provide first outdoor show of season in Coyle

COYLE — The Musers, Sonoma County’s “free-range” folk quartet, will play the first outdoor show of the season at Concerts in the Woods in Coyle at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The concert will be at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road in Coyle.

Admission is by a suggested donation of $20.

Humor is the bedrock of every Musers show, organizers said.

“With thoughtful songwriting and dynamic arrangements, this band of merrymakers delivers high-energy performances of their original work along with disco and funk covers,” according to a press release.

The group emphasizes its harmonies and award-winning songs, hitting traditional folk roots genres like bluegrass, swing, blues, Appalachian and Irish.

But their multi-instrumental chops, coupled with cajón/mandolin player Leslie Jackson’s experience with traditional ethnic music and dance, help set The Musers apart from other current folk groups on the scene today, organizers said.

The band’s fourth recording, “Beautiful Mysteries,” arrived in April 2022.

In addition to Jackson, The Musers feature Anita Bear Sandwina on banjolin, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and harmonica; Megan McLaughlin on guitar and mandolin; and Tom Kuhn on bass.
