Midnight Train to perform at Old Alcohol Plant tonight

PORT HADLOCK — A dance at the Old Alcohol Plant tonight will be the first in a series of monthly dances planned at the venue featuring Midnight Train, a Port Townsend blues and dance band.

The dance will be at 310 Hadlock Bay Road from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. A $12 cover charge applies. A full dinner menu will be available.

This will bring a new, regularly scheduled dance to the community, said Bob Longmire, a member of the band also known as Chicago Bob. The dance will be on the last Friday of the month (either the fourth or the fifth) adding to other Port Townsend dances on the first Saturday and the third Friday of each month.

Outside the Old Alcohol Plant is a view of the Hadlock Marina and South Port Townsend Bay, Longmire said, and inside is an art exhibit featuring Ansel Adams and others. The venue is open to all ages.

Midnight Train Blues Band began playing for dances in 2015, and has taken up waltzes, swing, tango and polka.

No dance is planned in April, Longmire said, because the band is already committed. The monthly series will begin in May, scheduled for the last Friday of the month.

Proceeds from the Old Alcohol Plant and from these dances will support Bayside Housing & Services, which provides temporary supportive housing to low-income people.
