SEQUIM — The work of 14 authors is included in a new collection of writing focused on the Olympic Peninsula.
Olympic Peninsula Authors (OPA) is releasing the anthology in conjunction with Skookum Bay Publishing of Sequim.
OPA plans to formally launch the 314-page book with a public event at Olympic Theatre Arts in Sequim on June 22.
All of the stories, poems, essays and memoirs in the book have a direct connection with the Olympic Peninsula and were written by previously published authors who live here or have written extensively about the area.
Linda B. Myers, a founding member of OPA, said the group was formed to help local authors gain the degree of exposure enjoyed by local musicians and artists.
“There’s an amazing amount of creative talent on the Peninsula,” Myers said, “but writers haven’t been as widely recognized locally as their counterparts in other fields.”
The new anthology was edited by Myers, author of the “PI Bear Jacobs” mystery series, and by Heidi Hansen, author of the recently published “A Slice of Life” and another founding member of OPA.
Skookum Bay Publishing has previously released “American Gypsy” and “The Friendly Little War of Lyman Cutler,” novels by OPA founding member Michael Bunnell.
Myers notes that visitors to the Peninsula as well as residents make up the target audience for the book, which will be available at retail outlets, tourist attractions and community events. The book also will be available on Amazon.
