PORT TOWNSEND — The Washington Civil War Association will roll into Port Townsend today to set up camp on Fort Worden’s parade ground.
The encampment at 200 Battery Way will be open to the public free of charge from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with daily skirmishes at noon each day.
The 1800s Historical Contra Dance will be from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Worden USO Club.
Admission to the dance is a suggested donation of $5 per person or $12 per couple. Children younger than 16 will be admitted free.
Tickets are available at the Coast Artillery Museum at Fort Worden.
Period clothing is optional at the dance. Music will be performed by Broken Dreams.
The 4th U.S. Infantry Company C was formed more than 20 years ago and is nonprofit 501(c)(3) based in Fort Steilacoom.
It is an American Civil War Living History Group committed to education about the American Civil War through living history displays and performances throughout the state of Washington.
Members work with other living history groups to portray the life of a soldier and civilian from both the North and South during the American Civil War.
