JeffCo repair events slated for this fall

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Marine Science Center is sponsoring four JeffCo Repair events, where individuals can bring their lamps with a faulty switch, sweaters with a hole in the elbow, tools dulled by overuse, bikes with wonky brakes and other broken household items to be fixed by volunteers.

The goal is to not only prevent perfectly good items from ending up in landfills, but creating opportunities for communities to learn and exchange knowledge.

Grant funding for JeffCo Repair is through the Port Townsend Marine Science Center, Local 2020’s Beyond Waste Action Group and the Department of Ecology Public Participation program.

The events are:

• From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jefferson County Public Library, 620 Cedar Ave., Port Hadlock.

• From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 19, Brinnon Community Center, 306144 U.S. Highway 101, Brinnon.

• From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 9, Quimper Grange, 1219 Corona St., Port Townsend.

• From noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 7, Quilcene Community Center, 294952 U.S. Highway 101, Quilcene.
