PORT TOWNSEND — A free concert Tuesday will feature pieces from the Great American Songbook, a canon of popular American songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century.
Northwind Arts Center will present performers Craig Buhler, Jessie Lee and Al Harris from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 701 Water St.
Buhler directs Sequim’s Stardust Big Band, co-directs Port Townsend’s annual Northwest Big Band Workshop and directs Big Bands for Port Angeles Camp Heebie Jeebies.
Lee is the lead singer for the Olympic Express Big Band and a frequent performer at Peninsula College jazz events.
Harris leads Adventures in Music, program sponsored by the Port Angeles Symphony that tours all Clallam County elementary schools, as director. He has also taught piano and improvisation for 25 years.
“I am sure that you will find viewing a concert at Northwind Arts Center quite invigorating and disarming,” director Harvey Putterman said.
The program will present different facets of music from the Great American Songbooks, including pieces from the likes of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Harold Arlen.
