Drill and rifle competition set Saturday

PORT ANGELES — Roughriders are among the students from seven schools who will participate in a drill and rifle competition from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Port Angeles High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) will host the contest for the second year in a row.

There is no admission fee. Concessions and auction baskets will be for sale with all proceeds benefiting the Port Angeles High School NJROTC program.

Port Angeles, Snohomish, Oak Harbor, Arlington, Burlington-Edison, Everett and Marysville students will vie in armed drill, unarmed drill, air rifle, academic, physical strength and color guard categories.

“Our cadets have spent countless hours practicing and would love for you to come down to support the Roughrider company,” said Jonathan Picker, senior naval science instructor.
