Douglas Lora to perform in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Three-time Grammy nominee guitarist and composer Douglas Lora will perform in Port Townsend at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Lora’s concert will be at the Port Townsend Quaker Friends Meeting House at 1841 Sheridan St. Tickets are $30 in advance. They are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/douglas- lora-in-concert-tickets-5027 18473487.

Lora is the guitar teacher of the Choro Workshop at the Centrum Foundation in Port Townsend. He has collaborated with such renowned artists as YoYo Ma, Paquito d’Rivera, Anat Cohen, Marco Pereira and Jovino Santos Neto.

A member of the Brasil Guitar Duo for over 20 years, Lora has performed extensively at theaters and concert halls in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America. He has appeared with major orchestras such as Dallas Symphony, Houston Symphony, Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (New York City), Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (Brasil) and Aukso Orchestra (Poland).

Also a member of the Trio Brasileiro, Lora has spread the fundamentals of Brazilian Popular music as a teacher, performer and composer through Europe and United States.

Trio Brasileiro’s latest album “Rosa dos Ventos,” recorded with Israeli clarinetist Anat Cohen, was nominated at the 2018 Grammy Awards as “Best World Music Album” at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
