PORT TOWNSEND — Northwind Art will host its first Fundraising Art Auction and pop-up gallery next week with events online and in downtown Port Townsend.
The Fundraising Art Auction, with more than 50 artworks, will be open for bidding at NorthwindArt.org from Monday through June 27.
Also during opening week, the pop-up gallery will be set up at the Cotton Building, 607 Water St., with everything in the auction on display.
The public is invited to visit — and place bids on their favorite artworks — from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
All proceeds from the Fundraising Art Auction with its pop-up gallery will benefit Northwind Art’s community programs.
Those include scholarships for youngsters and adults taking classes and summer camps at Northwind Art School at Fort Worden, free Aging Creatively art classes for people with memory loss, and the Jefferson Healthcare hospital art program.
Proceeds also will benefit the art shows that are free to the public year round at Jeanette Best Gallery, 701 Water St.
The auction and Cotton Building pop-up bring together a diverse array of original art, from jewelry and mixed media to photography, paintings and beyond.
Well-known local artists, including Linda Okazaki, Seq Rodriguez, Glo Lamson, Elissa Greisz, Isabel Elena Pérez, Me’l Christensen, April Ottey, Brian Goodman, the late Russell Jacqua, Meg Kaczyk, Corinne Humphrey, Diane Urbani de la Paz, Chris Witkowski, Diane Walker, Mitchel Osborne and others, have contributed to the event.
At the pop-up gallery, visitors can preview the live auction items that will be up for bid during the Northwind Art summer gala.
That fundraising event is set for 5 p.m. June 28 at White Lotus Farm, 3723 Beaver Valley Road in Port Ludlow.
The evening will feature lavish appetizers and dinner by Paella House, wines by Castle & Crown Cellars, art mask-making with Margie McDonald, signature mocktails and cocktails, a camera obscura and other activities on the theme of Surrealisme en plein air, aka Surrealism outdoors.
