Art association to present expert on photos of artwork

SEQUIM — The Olympic Peninsula Art Association will present a program and demonstration by Pam Dick on Thursday.

The presentation on how to take pictures of artwork will be during the assocation’s last meeting before summer break.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. with a meet-and-greet followed by the business meeting before Dick’s presentation in the Parish Hall of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave.

The cost for nonmembers will be $5.

The association will provide the ham and beverages. Participants are urged to bring side dishes, salads or desserts. Nonmembers are welcome.

Dick will explain the method she uses for taking photos of artists’ framed and unframed work for shows, cards or prints.

“When entering shows, your photos need to look as good as the original,” she said. “There are many tricks to make sure your photo presents the piece well and gets you accepted.”

She also will give tips on how to make a light box for jewelry, ceramics and other small 3-D art.
