National Merit Scholarship names several local students to program finals

EVANSTON, Ill. — The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has named several local students as semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Olivia D. Carroll, of Port Angeles High School, and Port Townsend High School students Maya I. Dow and Lochlan S. Krupa are among approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the program’s 67th year.

More than 380 of the 2022 semifinalists are Washington students, they represent 86 high schools across the state and four of them are home-schooled.

According to a press release, the program will award nearly $30 million in scholarships to 7,500 students next spring.
