Police: Alleged burglar returned to scene twice

PORT ANGELES — An alleged burglar was reported by police to have pressed his luck not once but twice early Wednesday morning with the third ended up not being the charm.

Valentino J. Hice, 31, was booked into the Clallam County jail on one count of first-degree theft and one count of second-degree burglary.

Port Angeles Deputy Police Chief Jason Viada said in an email that a burglar broke a window at Sound Bikes and Kayaks in Port Angeles at about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday and stole a bicycle, and then, the same person came back and stole another bicycle.

The crime was reported about 5 a.m. and an officer came to the store on Front Street to review surveillance camera footage, Viada said.

“While reviewing surveillance, the officer observed the suspect pass by the store again. The suspect went into one of the new toilets by the breezeway and was arrested just after 6 when he came out,” Viada said.
