PORT ANGLES — The man accused of killing a Port Angeles woman appeared for a status conference on Friday in Clallam County Superior Court.
Marquise Hagans-Moore, 27, is facing second-degree murder charge in the death of Rebecca Rule-Cowles. He has pleaded not guilty. His trial is scheduled to begin on Oct. 6.
Deputy prosecuting attorney Steven Johnson and Hagans-Moore’s attorney William Payne told Clallam County Superior Court Judge Simon Barnhart they are waiting for lab results and still going through evidence.
Barnhart set Hagans-Moore’s next court date for June 20.
Rule-Cowles was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound on Sept. 28, 2024, in the 300 block of East Whidby Avenue.
Hagans-Moore remains in Clallam County Jail on a $500,000 bond. If found guilty, he faces life imprisonment, plus five years, and a maximum fine of $50,000, or a combination of both.
