Up-lifting addition

Port of Port Townsend Commissioner Pam Petranek, below center, christens the port’s new 75-ton Travelift by whacking a bottle of Port Townsend Brewing Co. beer on it Wednesday afternoon. Port Executive Director Eron Berg and newly seated Port Commissioner Carol Hasse, right, joined her for the celebration at the Boat Haven. The port purchased the $561,185 lift with $150,000 in funding help from Jefferson County, Berg said. It replaces a smaller 70-ton hoist, which the port will keep because it fits into some interior shop spaces.
