EYE ON BUSINESS: This week’s meetings

Here are the various business meetings this week across the North Olympic Peninsula.

• Forks Chamber of Commerce — Luncheon meetings are Wednesdays at noon at Blakeslee’s Bar & Grill, 1222 S. Forks Ave.

This Wednesday’s gathering will feature the Clallam County Public Utility District and the chamber’s monthly business meeting.

Lunch of $9.75 will include an entree and sides. The soup of the day will be clam chowder.

• Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce — Twice-monthly luncheon meetings are held on the first Monday at noon at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St., and the third Monday at noon at Fort Worden Commons, 200 Battery Way.

This Monday’s program will be a combination Jefferson County Public Utility District and county commissioner forum with Barney Burke and Jeff Randall vying for a PUD Position 1 commissioner seat and Kate Dean and Tim Thomas, both Democrats, vying for the District 1 county commissioner seat.

The luncheon’s sponsor will be Kristin Manwaring Insurance.

Lunch by Subway costs $8.

• Port Angeles Business Association — Breakfast meetings with networking and educational programs are held Tuesdays at 7:30 a.m. at Joshua’s Restaurant, 113 DelGuzzi Drive (off U.S. Highway 101) in east Port Angeles.

Jim Buck, earthquake-preparedness activist, Joyce resident and former state legislator for the local 24th District, will make a return visit to follow up on his Sept. 20 PABA presentation on the consequences in Clallam County of a major Cascadia earthquake. His presentation, “Camping in Your House,” teaches how to “shelter in place” at home during an emergency rather than tie up public shelter space and resources.

There is a $3 minimum charge by Joshua’s for those at the PABA meeting who do not order breakfast.

All of the above meetings are open to the public.
