Ethnic hair training at school of cosmetology

PORT ANGELES — Hair stylist Amani Sorrell of the Vintage Salon in Tacoma is partnering with stylists at Studio 121 School of Cosmetology, 1222 E. Front St., to teach them the nuances of working with ethnic hair.

According to a press release, the program is the brainchild of Connie McAllister, who has been traveling to Tacoma to get her hair done due to a lack of stylists on the North Olympic Peninsula with an understanding of how to do her hair properly.

At McAllister’s prompting, Sorrell began to come up to Port Angeles bi-monthly to show ethnic hair techniques at the school to create a core of stylists that can continue the work.

For more information or to make an appointment, call the salon at 360-417-0388.
