Admiralty Distillers of Port Townsend awarded medal for honey wares

LONGMONT, Colo. — The National Honey Board awarded a gold medal to Admiralty Distillers of Port Townsend in its third Honey Spirits Competition.

The annual competition recognizes the best spirits in the United States that use honey either as a sweetener, flavor or a distillate.

Admiralty’s Amaro won the gold medal in the honey liqueurs and specialty drinks category.

Amaro is a type of Italian herbal liqueur that is typically consumed as an after-dinner digestif.

It includes such brands as Amaro, Fernet-Branca, Campari and Jagermeister.

According to a spokesman from Admiralty, the award-winning liqueur will be available for bottle sales in December.

Admiralty Distillers’ products are available by appointment at its tasting room and at Aldrich’s Market, 940 Lawrence St., Port Townsend.
