PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Port Townsend wins Nisqually-Olympic wrestling title

PUYALLUP — Port Townsend knocked off Cascade Christian 60-15 to win the Nisqually-Olympic League title.

Match winners for the Redhawks were: Ally Bradley at 106 pounds, Carter Swartout (113), Ian Linn Glasgow (126), Jesus Duran (132), Kalista Hill (138), Odin Smith (152), Gabe Petrick (160), Dylan Tracer (170), Ryan Caldwell (182) and Tucker Booth (285).

Port Townsend also wrestled Class 4A Auburn at the same match and fell 51-30.

Duran, Smith, Tracer and Kyle Caldwell all picked up wins.

In girls matches, Brenna Franklin (170) and Jamie Rogers (190) each won by pin.

Port Townsend’s boys wrestlers will begin the postseason at the sub-regional wrestling tournament at Vashon on Saturday.

Girls grapplers start the push for state at the sub-regional tournament at Thomas Jefferson in Federal Way on Saturday.

Boys Swimming Bremerton 86, PA 84

BREMERTON — The Knights edged the Roughriders by a slim two-point margin in a meet that saw the lead swing back-and-forth three times along with two tied scores.

Port Angeles placed first in six of the 12 events and outscored Bremerton in six events.

Winners were the 200-yard medley relay team of Alex Hertzog, Cameron Butler, Henry Shaw and Taylor Martin with a time of one minute, 55.75 seconds.

That same group also won the 400 free relay in 3:51.10.

Butler won two individual races: the 200 free (1:53.8) and the 500 free (5:11.41).

Martin won the 100 free in 1:00.27. Hertzog claimed the 100 back in 1:02.71.

Shaw set a district qualifying time in the 100 back, finishing third 1:10.22.

Port Angeles (1-5) will host all seven Olympic League teams Tuesday in the divisional invitational, the last chance to qualify for the postseason.

Diving will begin at noon, with swimming events at 3:30 p.m.
