ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Liam Clark, Port Angeles basketball

Port Angeles’ Liam Clark may be one of the players to watch this season. And it’s not hard to notice Clark, who grew a couple of inches from last year and now mans the post for the Roughriders at 6 feet, 7 inches tall.

Clark, who improved dramatically during the season last year, took advantage of that height and his long arms with seven blocks, including three in the first quarter alone, as the Riders beat Mount Tahoma Friday 55-32. Clark also added eight points for the Riders.

Clark also had a crucial block down the stretch, as well as a bucket and free throw, for Port Angeles in its season opener against Bainbridge last week, as the Riders came up just short in beating the Class 3A school.

Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’s General Store serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
