AREA SPORTS BRIEF: Jeff Throop memorial ride set for Sunday

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Motorcycle Club will hold a memorial potluck and grand prix ride Sunday for Jeff Throop, longtime member of the club and the area’s motorcycle community.

Throop, 58, died in April of injuries from a motorcycle accident. Bell said Throop had been involved with the OPMC for decades and as an excavator, did much of the grooming of the track.

“He was all about making the track better for the riders,” she said.

The event at the OPMC track on Deer Park Road is free and everyone is welcome. The club suggests that people donate $30 for Throop’s family. All of the proceeds will go toward the family.

The potluck will begin at noon, with setup beginning at 11:30 a.m. Please coordinate with OPMC scretary Amanda Bell for potluck food items. People can message her on the Olympic Peninsula Motorcycle Club Facebook page or call (360)-797-3955.

The grand prix ride will begin at 1:30 p.m. The track will be open to all riding after the grand prix ride. Volunteers are requested to help with flagging.
