Belly dance performance tonight
PORT ANGELES — Fresh from performances at Seattle’s Northwest Folklife Festival last month, the Shula Azhar belly dancers will reappear at Wine on the Waterfront, upstairs in The Landing mall at 115 E. Railroad Ave., tonight.
All ages are welcome, and there’s no cover charge to see the dancing at 7:30 p.m., though early arrival is advised since the troupe typically draws a standing-room-only audience.
For information, phone Wine on the Waterfront at 360-565-8466.
Shea Saturday
SEQUIM — Vocalist Sarah Shea and her combo Chez Jazz will arrive at Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., this Saturday for a no-cover-charge evening of jazz from 7 p.m. till 9 p.m.
Shea may sing numbers from her forthcoming album, “Second Time Around,” for which she’s conducting a fundraising campaign at www.gofundme.com/sarahshea.
Punks in Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES — Five punk bands are about to converge — along with vintage punk shirts and records — in a Punk Prom at Studio Bob, the event space upstairs at 118½ E. Front St.
Admission is by donation, with $5 suggested, starting at 6:30 p.m., and all ages are welcome at this prom.
So are punk, glam and New Wave fashions and hairsytyles, since a photo booth will be set up.
Mike Colgan, owner of Coog’s Budget CDs and Tapes in Port Angeles, masterminded this party, and he’ll begin the evening with a “pop punk pre-funk” set of music from “Footloose” and by Cyndi Lauper, David Bowie, Men Without Hats, Foreigner and Billy Idol.
Then the bands take over: Decapitate the Disciples, SST, Toxic Shock, Trinity Avenue and MCFD will survey the various kinds of punk rock through originals and punk classics.
For more information about Saturday’s Punk Prom, phone Colgan at 360-457-9211 or stop by Coog’s Budget CDs and Tapes at 111 W. Front St.
