Three treated, discharged after Morse Creek wreck

PORT ANGELES — Three Port Angeles residents were hurt when a Seattle driver traveling west around the Morse Creek curve swerved into eastbound traffic, according to the State Patrol.

The driver, 33-year-old Yiu C. Kwan, was not hurt after he drove his 2004 Honda convertible into the path of a Toyota 4 Runner driven by Joan Louise Antolock, 57, at about 7:49 a.m. Friday, according to the State Patrol.

Antolock and her passengers — Jeffrey Daniel Ralston, 65, and Diane R. Ralston, 61 — were treated and discharged from Olympic Medical Center, according to the nursing supervisor Saturday.

Kwan has been cited for second-degree negligent driving, the State Patrol said in a memo, which listed the cause of the wreck to be inattention and exceeding a reasonably safe speed, according to the memo.

The State Patrol said that Kwan “lost traction and swerved sharply into the eastbound lanes of travel.”

The convertible spun so that its right side struck the center left of Antolock’s 4 Runner, which flipped onto its top. Kwan’s vehicle came to rest on the eastbound shoulder facing west.

All four people were wearing seat belts and no drugs or alcohol were involved in the wreck, the State Patrol said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene of the wreck.
