PORT ANGELES — Auditions will begin Jan. 24 for A Journey Through the Looking Glass, the eighth annual Benefit and Talent Show hosted by the Port Angeles High School Leadership Class.
The show will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in the high school Performing Arts Center at 304 E. Park Ave.
“This year, our talent show will benefit Brandy [Nichols] Christian, a 2010 graduate of Port Angeles High School,” said Pam Helpenstell, PAHS Leadership Class adviser.
“Brandy was working at Shaltry Orthodontics when she was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer,” Helpenstell said.
‘Undergoing chemo’
“She is currently undergoing chemo treatments and is not able to work, which has caused a financial strain for her family.”
Tickets will be sold at the door the night of the show — $10 per adult, $5 per student and $20 for a family.
A silent auction of donations from local businesses and a bake sale will be held prior to the show. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
All proceeds will be donated to Christian.
“Some of Brandy’s favorite memories were when she was an active member of DECA with Lora Brabant and competed in DECA Internationals,” Helpenstell said.
Auditions will be conducted for two weeks.
“We invite talent from our community to participate, and auditions may be scheduled by contacting me at 360-565-1529 or emailing phelpenstell@port angelesschools.org,” Helpenstell said, adding that she also will accept donations to the silent auction.
Community members from all over the North Olympic Peninsula are expected to present a wide range of entertainment.
