SEQUIM — Skwim Toastmasters has been named a President’s Distinguished Club, recognizing the club’s membership growth and outstanding educational achievements during the club year that ended June 30.
Through self-paced educational programs, Toastmasters shed their fear of public speaking.
Toastmasters International is a worldwide nonprofit educational organization that empowers people to become more effective communicators and leaders.
Headquartered in Englewood, Colo., the organization’s membership exceeds 352,000 in more than 16,400 clubs in 141 countries.
“The Skwim Club is an example of Toastmasters at its best,” said Mike Marion, immediate past Director of District 32, which includes more than 100 clubs in Western Washington and Alaska. “Members are growing in their speaking and leadership skills.”
Sequim’s club members earned eight educational awards last year.
Skwim Toastmasters meets from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Gathering Place in Sunland, 135 Fairway Drive.
The public is welcome to visit meetings to see what Toastmasters do.
The initial membership fee is $20 plus dues of $51 for six months, payable in September and March.
