Ed McKay of Port Angeles, who was a commissary for the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hornet, the aircraft carrier responsible for the recovery of the Apollo 11 space capsule after its return from the moon in 1969, speaks about his experiences as an introduction to the showing of the movie “Apollo 11” at the Port Angeles Library on Saturday, the 50th anniversary of humans first setting foot on the moon. McKay said he baked a cake for a reception for the astronauts, who could not enjoy the treat because they were being kept in quarantine aboard the ship.
