Olympic Christian School names students to honor roll … and other items

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Christian School has named 18 students to its first quarter of honor roll lists.

To qualify for the honor roll, a student must maintain a grade-point average of at least 3.5.

The honor roll recipients are:

• Fourth grade: Nigel Barclay, Adi Hoagland, Jake Shamp, Sterling Shamp, Madison Smith and Keith Taylor.

• Fifth grade: Timothy Vanproyen, Luke Flodstrom and Lauren Smith.

• Sixth grade: Vienna Shamp and Jaxon Waddell.

• Eighth grade: Kinnley Brady and Emily Landers.

To qualify for the principal’s honor roll, a student must achieve a 4.0 GPA.

Those named to the principal’s honor are:

• Fourth grade: Matthew Miller.

• Fifth grade: Abby Jones.

• Sixth grade: Aidan Swenson.

• Seventh grade: Elijah Flodstrom.

• Eighth grade: Emaleigh Smith.

Student of the month

SEQUIM — Petra Bernsten, a Sequim Middle School student, was named Sequim Sunrise Rotary’s October Middle School Student of the Month.

Her favorite subjects are science and math, and her favorite sports are volleyball, soccer and wrestling.

Petra plans to become a culinary chef and own a restaurant in Washington or somewhere along the Pacific coast, according to a news release.

Petra is the daughter of Susie and Carl Bernsten of Sequim.
