Wine, chocolate fundraiser

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Masonic Lodge’s April Wines Tastes and Toast event is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 21.

Tickets are $35. They can be purchased online at www.pamasonic.org or by calling 360-417-9236.

The event at the lodge at 622 S. Lincoln St. will feature samples from nine wineries, two creameries and a chocolatier.

Also featured will be music, a silent auction and a variety of foods.

The Esther Chapter of the order of the Eastern Star will serve foods, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit its next round of scholarships for area high school seniors.

Community cooperation

PORT ANGELES — The public is invited to the inaugural Community Cooperation meeting set for 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The free meeting titled “How to Pack a Get Home Backpack (and more)!” will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 301 E. Lopez Ave.

The topic will be presented by Salvation Army Maj. Ron Rehnau.

Held every third Tuesday, the aim of the meetings is to connect people on their respective micro-islands and ways to stay safer if or when a major emergency happens. Area fire departments, county emergency management and the Red Cross have partnered with The Interfaith Community to sponsor the meetings.

CWU honor roll

ELLENSBURG — Several former Olympic Peninsula students were named to the Central Washington University fall honor roll.

Undergraduate students who earn a 3.5 or better grade-point average on a 4.0 scale while carrying at least 12 graded credit hours of study are eligible for the honor roll.

Port Angeles: Erica Jean Beck, Derek Ross Hare and Danny Price.

Port Hadlock: Alyssa Mae Salangsang Hamilton.

Landing practice

COUPEVILLE — There will be field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval AirStation Whidbey Island at Ault Field late morning to midafternoon Thursday.

Operations will continue mid to late morning Friday.

Aircraft carrier-based flight training also will occur at the Outlying Field late morning to evening to latenight Monday.

Practice is also slated for mid to late morning Friday.
