NEWS BRIEFS: Neighborhood watch meeting tonight in Port Angeles … and other items

PORT ANGELES — The Upper Cedar/Pine Road Neighborhood Watch will meet from 6 to 7:30 tonight.

The group will meet at Port Angeles Fire Department, 102 E. Fifth St.

The topic will be “Community Oriented Policing (COP) & Neighborhood Empowerment.”

QUILCENE — A Department of Social and Health Services mobile community service office will be at the Quilcene Community Center, 294952 U.S. Highway 101, this Wednesday.

Those interested can apply for cash assistance, basic food assistance and medical assistance from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Additionally, an eligibilty review, mid-certification review and changes to an exisiting case can be completed at the mobile office.

Speaker slated

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Toastmasters will host a speaker event Wednesday on the second floor of Seaport Landing Retirement and Assisted Living Community, 1201 Hancock St

Bill Thomas — a professional speaker and former mayor of Sequim — will present an autobiographical story from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
